Upgraded pinion seal is made from a upgraded material specially designed to last in high heat environments, this is common when running driveline/ pinion brakes on the 2.5 Ton axles, these seals are rated to operate at 600F for extended periods of time unlike typical rubber seals that will breakdown and fail quickly in high heat environments

It is recommended to run the high temp seal on the rear output near the park brake as excessive heat from the brake can damage regular seals.
